GJS Dillon to raise funds for lifesaving charity
May 2023Worcestershire commercial property consultancy GJS Dillon has launched a 12-month fundraising campaign with a target of £400 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC). The countdown is now on for the team’s first challenge; a 5K inflatable race in Wolverhampton on 29th July.
The cause is close to the team’s hearts following a tragic incident involving one of their colleagues, who said:
‘I had reason to be involved in an incident where MAAC was called out. The crew were amazing and got involved with the patient’s care, along with the NHS ambulance crew, even though the charity’s air ambulance was not ultimately utilised. Their aftercare is also second-to-none. When I felt ready – six months down the line – I was given the opportunity to understand exactly what had happened that day. The charity’s patient liaison took me through every step from the moment the emergency services were called, until the final moments. Unfortunately, in my case, the outcome was not what we had hoped for, but I know that they did everything they possibly could to sustain life’.
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is responsible for funding and operating three air ambulance helicopters and two critical care cars serving the communities of six Midlands counties: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire. Each air ambulance mission costs an average of £2,950 and the charity’s only source of funding is through donations.
Wiktoria Jaworksa, corporate partnership executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity said: ‘We are delighted to be partnering with GJS Dillon this year to help raise awareness and funds for our lifesaving charity. We rely solely on donations to fund our vital pre-hospital emergency service, where campaigns led by corporate partners are crucial to helping us overcome fundraising challenges, and will help fund future missions in the local area.’
