GJS Dillon To Be Sole Agent On Sherriff's Gate
December 2013WORCESTERSHIRE property consultancy GJS Dillon has been appointed as sole agent for the £100m Sherriff’s Gate scheme.
Sherriff’s Gate is one of the largest mixed use developments ever to be undertaken in Worcester.
GJS Dillon has been awarded sole agency instruction to market the homes, leisure and retail complex which it is hoped, will transform the city centre and create hundreds of jobs.
Worcester City Council has given planning approval to phase one of the three-phase scheme, and backed the remainder of the development in principle.
GJS Dillon is now looking for a major food retailer to occupy a 6,814 sq ft ground floor store. The firm said it is in talks with several household names.
In addition it is in discussion with a number of housing associations to secure residential users. Phase one of the scheme involves 131 one and two-bedroom homes and the scheme as a whole will create 650 homes. The development also has planning permission for nearly 13,000 sq ft of commercial space.
The Sherriff’s Gate development as a whole will involve transforming 900,000 sq ft of industrial land in the Shrub Hill area of the city, creating new homes, business units, a cinema, a hotel, leisure facilities, 1,000 car parking spaces, retail units and an 80-bed care village.
Phase one of the development includes a food superstore, a 597-space multi-storey car park, business units, cafes, bars and food takeaways.
Philip Jones, partner at GJS Dillon said: “As a practice associated with major city and town centre regeneration in Worcestershire we are delighted to be appointed as sole agents for this development and already we are having meaningful discussions with a number of well-established food retailers and housing associations.”
