Bromsgrove Town Centre Site On The Market For Retail Led Mixed Use Redevelopment

April 2012

JP Dillon Commercial Property Consultants has launched to market a major Worcestershire development opportunity, consisting of a prime site in Bromsgrove town centre for a retail led mixed use redevelopment.

On behalf of Bromsgrove District Council, and in accordance with the Bromsgrove Town Centre Draft Area Action Plan, JP Dillon is marketing a 1.78 acre site on St John Street, at the southern end of the town’s High Street, known as the Historic Market Hall site.

Presently consisting primarily of a council owned car park, plus two buildings fronting on to Worcester Road, the site is regarded as one of the key gateways into the town centre and is considered in the Town Plan as an important new retail led mixed use location, which will add to the overall retail offer and create an anchor at the southern end of the town.

“The proximity of the site to a proposed street café area and the concentration of pubs and restaurants in the High Street south/Worcester Road make this site suitable for other supported leisure uses, and applications which include leisure uses such as cafes, restaurants and a cinema may be acceptable both on the ground and upper floors,” explains John Dillon, managing director of Bromsgrove based JP Dillon Commercial Property Consultants

“The Historic Market Hall site offers mixed use developers, retailers and leisure operators the opportunity to invest in a traditional Worcestershire market town with a thriving and busy business community. Bromsgrove is a popular town with a resident population of circa 30,000 people and a catchment population in the region of circa 90,000 people,” says Mr Dillon.

Roger Hollingworth, Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, says: “The historic market site is a great opportunity to build upon the town centre regeneration project, providing an anchor point at the southern end of the town centre. The right development here will increase visitors to the town and provide jobs for local people. I am excited to see what proposals will be put forward.”

John Dillon continues: “As a Bromsgrove based business it is particularly exciting to be marketing this site, which will focus the attention of a number of high profile developers and investors on the town and which in time will have a positive impact on local businesses and residents.”

This is the second major town centre redevelopment site in Bromsgrove which JP Dillon has brought to market in the past 12 months, successfully disposing of a 2.31 acre site on corner of Recreation Road and Market Street to Aspen Retirement Living for a high density residential scheme suitable for retirement living.
