House Surveyors continue to reach new heights

January 2024

2023 was an exceptionally busy year for the House Surveyors, GJS Dillon’s Residential Surveys and Valuations business.

The images shown represent just a small example of the wide variety of properties surveyed last year, ranging from half-timbered farmhouses and barn conversions to standard suburban houses. This reflects the breadth of surveys offered by the team which includes RICS Homebuyer Levels 2, 3 and Level 3 Bespoke Surveys.

Over the years, Jonathan Mountford and Piers Thompson, who are both experienced RICS Chartered Surveyors and Registered Valuers, have come across all kinds of defects and structural issues in domestic premises. While issues can arise with modern properties, there is no doubt that they are more likely to occur with those that are older. This is why the team’s understanding of  the complexities of design and the characteristics of traditional materials is so valuable.

‘Jonathan and I are passionate about ensuring that the prospective purchaser has everything they need to make an informed decision’ says Piers ‘ We give as much information as we possibly can in our Reports, avoid too much jargon and answer any questions the client may have. We also offer follow-up calls via phone, Teams or Zoom. With our Level 3 Bespoke Surveys we provide a custom-made report that includes additional advice regarding repairs and maintenance. ‘

It is this level of scrutiny that is gaining The House Surveyors a reputation for excellence and a growing number of 5 star Google reviews. Clients praise the team’s friendly and efficient customer service, professional advice and comprehensive reports.

In some cases the advice given has empowered purchasers to renegotiate the purchase price by several thousand pounds or simply walk away. And with predictions that housing prices will recover lost ground this year, it’s likely that the team’s services will continue to be in demand from those seeking to make a move in 2024.

In addition to Surveys, the team provides Help to Buy Valuations and house valuation services and undertakes valuations for other purposes such as Purchase, Matrimonial, Inheritance Tax and Insurance Reinstatement.
